For those that are eager to take a peak inside, enjoy these selected quotes from "In the Shadow of Thy Wings." *All quotes are subject to chance since it's still a work in progress.

"...Sally bit her bottom lip as she watched him go. Thousands of thoughts rushed on her at the same time. She gripped the sides of her face with shaking hands and paced the floor behind the counter. “What am I supposed to do?” she whispered to herself. Sally took another deep breath and let it out slowly as a verse floated through her memory, “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God.”
“I...I can't do this, Lord,” she stammered. “You're asking too much this time.” Her slender fingers slid over her face, covering her eyes as if blocking out her vision could block out her thoughts as well. Her papa's words echoed through her mind, “Will you refuse to be where He wants you?”....."

"Courage is rarely without fear. To be courageous is not to be absent of fear, but rather to be obedient in spite of it. Think of the men. They are courageous while defending our homes. Yet when you ask them, they will each speak of fear. They are called courageous, not because they have no fear but because they fight while enveloped by it. You see, courage, my friend, is not found outside of fear, but rather through it." ~ Claire Harper

"Sally Chandler pressed a shaking hand to her stomach, but it did nothing to settle her nerves. The breeze swirled around her, picking up the blonde tendrils that fell away from her once neat bun and scattering them across her face. She didn't bother to shake them away. She had bigger and tougher things to shake, like her fear."

"No man should think so highly of his limbs that he should think himself worthless without them." ~ Claire Harper's encouraging words to the wounded.

The following quote is considered a spoiler. It answers the most common question I recieve from those that finish "Where Can I Flee":

"The mysterious man turned toward her (Claire) and was about to turn away again when he froze. His eyes met hers and she was left without a doubt. The swarm of butterflies that enveloped her heart helped to prove that she knew the man across the street well, and yet he was still a stranger to her...."

The following quote is considered a spoiler and tells us where Frank is stationed at the start of "In the Shadow of Thy Wings." Locals will particularly be interestd in knowing this:

"...We've just now settled in Beech Grove and are now the closest we've been to Maple Grove since we boarded the train eighteen months ago...I have high hopes that this opportunity would not be lost on either of us and that I am to expect two very happy visitors soon...."
